About us
The need of having a B.Ed. Collage at Diphu has been felt by many educationists, parents guardians and also by the senior citizens of Diphu town way back in 1975. But then, it was a distant dream. The dream was then confined to some leading citizens and some officials of the town as no one took the responsibility and burden for its establishment. That was the reason why the proposals and initiatives for the noble cause ended up in some departmental files for years. The reason was not finance but attitude - The Attitude to begin Social and Educational Change.
This long-felt educational need and distant dream came true only when the college had been established with the relentless initiatives of Shri Bharat Kumar Timung, the then Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (K.A.A.C) along with some senior citizens of Diphu Town , viz. Shri Padma kanta Baruah, Shri Ratan Kro, Shri Satish Sarma (Inspector of Schools), Shri Baliram Kalita, Shri D.N. Choubey, prof. Kumudeswar Sarma, prof. U.B. Pandey, Shri Tenzing Ingti, Dr.Sarsing Terang, Shri Ranjit Sen, Father John and many other intellectuals will be honourably remembered forever in the history of Diphu B.ED. College.
The first informal meeting was held at the office chamber of Shri Bharat Kumar Timung which culminated into the formation of a Governing Body in the meeting at Diphu Govt. Boys’ Higher Secondary School Building and the meeting elected Shri Bharat Kumar Timung as president and Shri Satish Sharma as Secretary on 17th August 1994. Though it was a bit late, yet the governing body decided to start the classes from that Academic Session.
The Inspector of Schools, Karbi Anglong had accorded permission to use the deserted hostel building of Diphu Govt. H.S. School till is building was constructed. The newly functional
